Bridgestone Invitational

Aunt Bridget's new house is very close to Firestone Country Club. As luck would have it, this year's WGC-Bridgestone Invitational happened to be going on while we were there. We got a few passes so we were able to make a few trips while we were there - we could take both kids to some of the practice rounds and Zach took Anna for an afternoon during actual tournament.

Practice rounds are great - you can get close, you are allowed to take photos and its fun to see the Pros in a more relaxed setting. Over the course of the tournament we got to see some golf close up, had some good photo opps, got an autograph, had some special treats and had a very close encounter with a famous face (and the eventual winner)!

Andrew got a a laugh out of this guy (Gonzalo Fdez-Castano) - we were standing on the edge of the fairway near where his ball landed. As he approached Andrew decided it was a good time to really hike up the bottoms of his shorts to give the golfers a good look at his upper thighs. The golfer looked over at Andrew and chuckled - Andrew thought it was the greatest!

These shots are from the Friday of the tournament when Zach and Anna snuck away for a few hours to check out the tournament action.

Ice Cream makes her happy

Getting a high five from Rory McIlroy makes her even happier! Anna and Zach watched him sink a birdie on the 14th and on his way to the next hole he gave Anna a high five. She was SO excited.

While the TV footage of the actual high five didn't make Sports Center, footage of them watching him at the 14th did! Anna and Zach are 3rd from the right (she's sitting on his shoulders).

And here they are on the far right. A star is born!

All in all, a fun time was had! And it fueled Anna's excitement about the golf camp she had scheduled when we got home!
