Preschool! (Formerly referred to as "pretty school" by Andrew)
Today was Andrew's first day of preschool! He has watched patiently as every year we take the first day of school photos for Anna, and been dragged back and forth to Anna's school to drop her off and pick her up. Today was HIS turn and he was so excited!
In fact, as we were getting ready this morning he kept saying "I'm SO excited!!" He saw the frame with the "First Day of Preschool" sign in it and wanted to hold it all morning.
We took him into school and as soon as we got into his classroom he ran off to play with some of the toys. We took this as a good sign, and as the teachers had advised during orientation, said some quick goodbyes and we were off!
As the hours ticked by with no phone calls from school we were optimistic it was going well! We were so happy to see our little guy smiling when he came out of the classroom at the end of the day. The school director said he did great - no tears and paricipated fully in all the activities.
Highlights of the day seemed to be:
1) Snack. Apples and Animal crackers. Doesn't get better than that.
2) Playing on the playground. Played on the excavator, the airplane, the slide and with the horses
3) Singing songs
4) The teacher reading a book about love :)
We headed out for a celebratory lunch date then home for a well deserved nap. So proud of our "Big" buddy!
Some photo highlights of the big day:
Combing his hair. I tried to get him to wear a nice polo shirt but he insisted on a Notre Dame shirt.
Getting fired up for the day
1st attempt at "the photo".
The money shot!
I guess it was a bit bright!
He insisted on a selfie with my phone before we headed out
Also insisted on taking the sign with him in the car
In his classroom!
The happy boy after school
Andrew loves going out to lunch, and he knows its not something he gets to do very often so its really special. He requested a quesadilla from a specific restaurant so we headed there for a little celebration of how well he did today!
"Cheers" with tortilla chips
This was where he told me that his stomach has 3 buckets. One for food, one for special treats and one for chips. His food bucket was full, but his chip bucket still had room.
LOVE this kid!
