LEGOLAND

After 10 days in Santa Barbara we all drove down to the San Diego area to visit with family. We picked up Zach at the San Diego airport and the next morning headed to LEGOLAND. I think Zach was a bit skeptical about the place since up until a week or so before we went he didn't realize it was truly an amusement park with rides, etc. He thought we'd spend a few hours there building with legos, seeing some things people had built with LEGO bricks then head home. Quite the contrary, we had a full day of fun, rides, ice cream and yes, some LEGO building.

Excited to be there!

Sky Patrol

Building!

Kid Power Tower - they used the rope to pull themselves to the top of the tower, then let go!

Miniland USA (Las Vegas)

Miniland USA (San Francisco) - Hard to believe this is all built of LEGO bricks!

Miniland USA (Washington DC)

Andrew with Winston Churchill

Anna with Queen Elizabeth II

LEGO TECHNIC Coaster - "Kind of scary but SO FUN!"

Ice Cream! Note: Sunscreen is a great substitute for hair gel :)

Cargo Ace - by far the most adventurous ride of Andrew's day. I wish I cold have captured his giggles of joy. He wanted to ride it again and again and again...

Video of the joy

Dune Raiders

The wait for Sky Cruiser.... the kids wanted to go on this ride all day but the lines were so long. Finally at the end of the day the line was quite as long so we gave in and did it as our last ride of the day. Thankfully LEGOLAND installed these play areas at the most popular rides. An adult can wait in the line and it wraps around a LEGO play area where the kids can play. When the adult gets to the front of the line there's a gate where the kid can join back up with the adult. GENIUS.

Racing cars they built while Dad waits in line

The excitement builds!

Zach and Anna finishing up the much coveted ride - a glorified bike on a track you pedal around an eleveated track. Kids loved it, but from an adult perspective not worth the wait!

No trip to LEGOLAND is complete without an hour long wander through the giant LEGO store at the exit. I'm not sure if it was more difficult to get the kids or Zach out of the store.

Andrew with his treasure as we head home... Not pictured: Anna's Cargo Truck set and the LEGO storage box :)
