Happy 1st Birthday Andrew!

Happy birthday to our precious baby boy! The past year has been full of happiness, exhaustion and lots of lessons for us as second-time parents. Namely how different two kids can be! One a good sleeper, the other not. One is a cuddler, the other is not. One is in to everything while the other was happy to sit and read books. Same parents, totally different kids.


A few things we've learned about Andrew during the past year:
Andrew is full of curious energy. He's fast. He touches everything. Sticks everything in his mouth. If it is even an inch high he'll try to climb on top. "No" means nothing in his world. A few bars of music starts his hips swaying and knees bending, arms waving in joy. He has two moods - happy and angry. Nothing in between. He flirts with the ladies. And his smile has the power to erase any frustration or anger you have with him. He's going to be a force to reckon with...
His first word was "ball" followed closely by "Bird". To the untrained ear these two words sound remarkable similar, but "bird" is usually accompanied by a pointing finger in the direction of something outside.


Sadly, we had to cancel his birthday due to him coming down with croup and taking a middle of the night trip to the ER. It broke my heart to have to cancel it but once we're settled into our new house we'll try again! We did get a chance to have a family celebrations, complete with Anna getting a fat lip. It was that kind of birthday.
