Oh Christmas Tree...
As it turns out, 3 seems to be the age at which kids get into the holiday spirit. Anna has been all about Christmas and Santa and "Baby Jesus" ever since toys started appearing at Costco and we started to have run ins with Santa at the mall.
Given her interest and our busy schedule we decided that this Sunday was probably the best time to get a tree. Unfortunately, it ended up being a rainy weekend - not the best time to be picking out a tree. Even worse, Anna had taken hold of the idea that we were getting a tree and would not give up on it. We held out for good weather as long as we could but by the time she woke up from her nap on Sunday there was no stopping her. The rain seemed to have let up a bit so we rushed to get ready and jumped in the car. But by the time we got to the tree lot it was POURING. We managed to convince her that they were closed because it was raining so hard. We decided to go out to get some dinner and hope that when dinner was over the rain would have stopped.
She was a maniac at dinner - so excited, so happy. She even did what we thought were warm up stretches before we left but it turns out she was dancing like the ballerinas in The Nutcracker. Check out the video below and judge for yourself :)
When we left dinner, the rain had stopped and of course Anna insisted that we go get a tree. And of course, by the time we got there and got out of the car it started pouring again. We knew at this point there was no option but to go home with a tree. So we put on our raincoats, got our umbrellas out and bent to the will of the 2 year old.... In the end we got a nice tree and a great memory out of the adventure...
