Musical Milestones and Favorites

We've known for quite some time now that Anna has a little music bug in her. She has been a happy little singer since she first discovered her voice. But in the last month or two we've noticed a new twist in her repertoire - an ability to disassociate melody and lyrics. She will walk around the house singing absolutely random words to a tune she already knows. I'm sure there's some cognitive development milestone associated with this behavior, which is great, but it's also just fun to listen to the creative tendencies of a two year old.

Incidentally, Anna's current favorite songs are:
- "hey mama / baby girl" ("I Love You" by Michael Franti)
- "the Elmo song" ("You Don't Treat Me No Good" by Sonia Dada - she thinks they are saying "...you don't treat me no good Elmo")

And far and away the favorite:
- "hey-ey" ("Hey Soul Sister" by Train)
