Grandpa & Me
When my dad passed away earlier this year, one of the things that helped everyone cope with the loss was the presence of Anna at the funeral and around the house. There's just something about a bright-eyed, innocent, cluelessly happy little kid running around that makes everyone stop and smile.
And it was a small consolation to us that my dad got to spend some time with Anna in her first year. He loved our little girl, and while she will never remember him, at least we have our memories and photos to remind us. We've been meaning to put together a quick post with some pictures of Anna and Grandpa Denny, and we just recently we filmed some video that finally made us get around to it.
First, a picture from December 2007, just after we brought Anna home. She was 3 days old when this photo was taken.

Then, what a difference a year makes! A couple photos from Christmas 2008 at Aunt Bridget's house.
Finally, our first foray into putting video on the blog. Anyone who knew my dad knows that he was a guy who lived and breathed classical music. Well, it seems Anna has Grandpa's musical bug. Last week I had Beethoven's Ninth Symphony rockin' on the stereo - one of my dad's all-time favorites, and a piece that he was thrilled to see me sing while I was in college. Anna bopped around a bit until the fourth movement - the Choral - at which point she absolutely went crazy. Karen pulled out the camera and captured a few minutes of footage, and the rest, as they say...

Go find Ludwig and have him pull up a chair, Dad, because you guys are going to love this.

Allison and I both got a kick out of this, and no doubt your dad and Luddy V. are rolling on the floor themselves up there. Classic.

Your dad has to be very, very pleased! He's, also, probably laughing so hard he has tears in his eyes. He would have loved to pull out his trumpet and join in the fun.
Ah, "the circle of life . . ."
God bless!
