Anna's First Softball Game

Today was Anna's first softball game! Well, technically its t-ball but everyone seems to refer to it as softball anyway. We had a feeling Anna would like softball but missed signups last year, so this year we made sure to get her signed up in time. Her team's name is the Leprechauns and has a few girls from her class at school on it mixed in with some new friends from different schools.

The games are 5 innings or 75 minutes (whichever comes first). Every girl gets one at bat during the inning, regardless of number of outs. Even if you technically get out, you still get to keep running the bases. And the last girl at bat for each team in the inning gets a home run - all the girls get to finish the bases and run home. So there's no real score of any kind but the girls have fun while learning the basic skills. General consensus from the game was that we won since we got more outs than the other team did. Our girls had 3 outs :)

They all seemed to have a great time and Anna was so proud to be the first baseman who got to the base with ball in hand to secure the team's first out of the year! Here are a few photos (ok, a lot) from the Leprechauns' first win!

She's got the posing down :)

You would think from this photo that she's about to play football.... but T-ball rules require a batting helmet, face guard and chin strap.

Crossing first base - SAFE!
 SO happy!
The first out - ball hit to Maya, Maya throws to Anna...
Anna scrambles to grab the ball....
And she's out! (As I said before, #4 gets to keep going even though she's out)

 Batter up!

 Happy Leprechaun fans!
