Irish Baptism

This past Saturday (September 10th) we had the great luck to celebrate Andrew's baptism in the Log Chapel at Notre Dame. To make it even more special the baptism was performed by Fr. Jim Foster who performed our wedding ceremony. The final piece that came together to make it a truly memorable event was that some members of the Notre Dame Glee Club took part in our very intimate gathering and sang a few beautiful songs in celebration of Andrew's baptism (see video below). This piece really meant a lot to Zach as he had been asked to do a similar thing while he was in Glee Club - to sing in the Log Chapel for the baptism of Lou Holtz's grandson, the day before his final game as coach. While we might not be as famous around campus at the Holtz's, we felt lucky to celebrate Andrew's day in such a special way.

We rented a house in South Bend and Zach's mother, sister, brother-in-law and grandma drove in from Ohio. Bridget was the only member of Zach's family who was able to be at Anna's baptism here on the west coast, and although my parents weren't able to make it to South Bend it was nice that our Ohio based family could be part of one of the baptisms.

Apologies to Glee Club for the sound quality but it meant a lot to have them sing this song (also sung at our wedding by Club Alumni). I also love how mesmerized Andrew is. And apologies to Andrew for Anna's obvious lack of interest in the proceedings!
