Christmas 2008

Now that we've covered Anna's first birthday, let's move on to the big Christmas adventure. Or as we've been calling it, "Anna's Hanukkah". After Anna's birthday on the 18th, we had her party on the 20th, a small early Christmas at home on the 21st, opened more presents as they arrived on the 22nd, and then left for a week in Ohio on the 23rd, where there were more gifts for her on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day following. Eight crazy nights, indeed.

Anna handled her long plane ride to Ohio fairly well, although we've vowed that we will not be traveling by plane without her in her own seat from now on. She's just too active to contain in the two seats for mom and dad.

We did learn a very important lesson, though: feeding Anna just because it keeps her entertained is a very bad idea. She always seems to eat more than usual when we are flying, and we've attributed that to it clearing her ears. And so we let her munch away on her sweet potato puffs, keeping her quiet and busy. She was fussy on the drive to Aunt Bridget's house, presumably tired and crabby from the trip. But then when we put her down to sleep, she wouldn't lie down. She actually was falling asleep sitting up, her head bobbing like a kid dozing off in class. Then we realized that we had forgotten to give her that day's dose of penicillin for her ear infection. So we went in to give it to her, and after one sip she promptly projectile vomited all over the three of us. So after a pajama change, Karen spent an hour getting Anna back to sleep, and I spent an hour scrubbing vomit out of all of our clothes. Ah, the things you do...

We were also a bit bummed that over 7 days in Ohio, we didn't get ANY snow. We were very excited to see Anna playing in white stuff, but we had to settle for old leaves. Thankfully, she was perfectly happy with those as her outdoor playthings.

In any event, here are some pictures from the extended Christmas celebration:

Zach & Karen,

She looks so beautiful in all her pictures! She really needs to get involved in modeling! Love that sweet face.

See you all Monday.

dank-du for sharing (I know, it's getting kind of old..)
